In 1969, the "eagle" of Apollo 11 landed on moon. While this was an successful retaliation against the soviets that had reached space before americans, it had an secret secondary mission.
When the lunar lander left moon, all the unnecessary parts had to be left behind in order to save fuel. The parts that were left on the surface of moon was this secondary mission. This project was called "Black Spear".
Black spear was an lunar platform that included an nuclear warhead that could be fired with relatively powerful prototype railgun (without rocket propulsion). This railgun was drilled into the ground secretly while the crew were doing their exploration on moon. NASA had installed an weapon that could fire undetectable nuclear warhead anywhere in the world.
It is unknow wether this Black Spear is anymore operational or not.
